Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and social skills. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which is a UK government-approved curriculum for early years education.

Our experienced staff members use a play-based approach to teaching, where children learn through exploration and discovery. We provide a range of activities, including outdoor play, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.

Our aim is to help children develop a love for learning that will stay with them for life.

About Digby Village Preschool

Digby Village Preschool is a not-for-profit organisation and a registered charity that has been providing quality early childhood education for many years.

Digby Village Preschool re-registered in 2006 when it moved to its current location. Operating from Digby Church of England Primary School premises, it uses a classroom within the school whilst also having access to the various school facilities including the hall and outside play areas, to help us provide a well-rounded education for our students.

The location of the preschool within the primary school is an ideal stepping stone in preparing children for starting full time education. As to be expected, our relationship with Digby C of E Primary School is very close. The preschool is managed by a volunteer committee, but employs experienced childcare professionals to undertake the daily running of the facility.

As a not-for-profit organisation, all fees and funding received, goes directly to pay all the regular business outgoings. Any ‘profit’ thereafter is channelled straight back into the preschool to pay for replacing equipment, toys etc. The preschool is run in accordance with Ofsted regulations and conforms to the Early Years Foundation practices.

Parent testimonials

"Where do I start..... my daughter was struggling with separation, we found Digby Pre school through attending the toddler group on a Friday morning. We both loved the group so much and felt so welcome. I knew my daughter would do well there. The pre school setting has new and engaging activities daily, they can have hot meals and all come together for snacks. The staff care so much for the children (and the grown-ups!) and put so much effort in make the setting as wonderful as it is. Highly recommended!"

"Digby Village Pre School is an absolute hidden gem! Be aware though- you will fall in love with the setting the minute you enter through the doors!! The teachers provide a warm and nurturing environment and cater to every child’s needs. It has a wonderful ‘home from home’ feel. They create a love for learning through play and there’s plenty of time spent outdoors. I could not recommend this setting enough and have seen my son flourish here. My only regret is not sending my son sooner!"

"Would definitely recommend this lovely little setting. Always greeted with a warm welcome and big smiles. My son absolutely adores this nursery, he comes skipping out of the gate each day, telling me all the fun he's been upto. With something new and fun to do everyday its never a boring session - busy bees and jolly dollies ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"

"Genuinely the BEST pre school! 😍 Such a lovely small run place where I know for a fact that my son is being looked after, loved, taught new things and encouraged to reach his full potential in everything he does! He absolutely adores going there! Donna and Mollie do an amazing job and they should both be very proud! 🥰"

"This has been my son's first childcare setting; the staff have been so welcoming and kind and let him adjust at his own pace. He comes running out with the biggest smile and wants to go back the following day. Lots of outside time, thoughtful activities and community engagement. Couldn't wish for a better childcare setting."

"What a fabulous little gem of a pre-school! I moved my daughter from a bigger/busier setting and it was the best thing I have ever done, she has settled so quickly with the kind, fun and attentive staff and is really coming out of her shell now thanks to this wonderful pre-school. The hand over at pick up is great with lots of detail, great communication and very accommodating."

"My daughter struggled with separation issues until the day she started at Digby Village Preschool. She absolutely loves it and asks to go everyday. The ladies are so creative and engaging with all their wondeful ideas for the children, aswell as being so warm and caring. It really is like a little family. If anyone is considering a preschool environment go and take a look, you won't be disappointed!"

"Two of my children have gone here and it is the most warm and welcoming preschool ever. They are interactive and fun and learn the needs of each individual child. Wouldn't have my kids anywhere else."
